COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict is being debated at the University of South Carolina.

USC spokeswoman Megan Sexton says Thursday's debate will focus on whether the pre-1967 armistice lines should form the basis for a peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Joshua Reubner, a member of the group U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation was to argue in favor of Israel returning to the pre-1967 borders.

Retired businessman and USC alumnus William Langfan was to argue in opposition. Langfan has endowed numerous oratorical competitions as a member of the university's Euphradian Society, which was founded in 1806 to support literacy and debate.

The debate is free and open to the public.
