COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Some University of South Carolina students taking part in a breast cancer awareness project Monday.

The students are part of an HRSM pre-professional class where they had to pick a philanthropy to highlight.

So they teamed up with the Palmetto Health Breast Cancer to raise awareness about the disease.

The group made a pink balloon arch as a symbol of the fight for breast cancer.

Those who donated money were able to have a loved ones name who dealt with breast cancer inscribed on a balloon.

“So our goal was three fold, one was to raise money and the money that we are raising is going to the Palmetto Health Breast Center. The other was to bring awareness that’s what the balloon arch is for and the other part was to give back,” says Diane Renko, USC student.

The group says their  goal was to raise $1,500 for the Palmetto Health Breast Cancer.
