BISHOPVILLE (WACH)-- Bishopville legend Pearl Fryar is opening his nationally renowned topiary garden to the public for free this Friday and Saturday, all to help the American Red Cross.

“If every person would try to help someone less fortunate, we could change the community, and change the world,” says Fryar.

Fryar started his garden back in the 1980’s as a hobby. Now, people from across the country come to the small town of Bishopville to check out his creations.

He’s been featured in numerous newspapers and magazine articles, television shows, and even a documentary.

Nancy Cataldo with the American Red Cross is helping organize this weekend’s event.

“It’s a true testimony of neighbors helping neighbors. Pearl really wants to give back to the community here,” says Cataldo.

The tours take place from 10am- 4pm on Friday and Saturday. All donations go to the Red Cross.

Also on Saturday, Fryar is hosting an open house. He will demonstrate how he creates one of his masterpieces, and then auction it off. The open house starts at 11am.

It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a Pearl Fryar original, and help your local community.
