COLUMBIA (WACH) --  A hit-and-run on Interstate 77 Thursday has left one person dead and another injured, as the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to look for the person responsible.

About 3:45 p.m. the SC Highway Patrol reported a crash near mile-marker 51 on I-77.  Troopers say a green Ford Explorer collided with a beige Honda, sending the Honda off the road and into a tree.

One person in the Honda died, and another person was injured.

The green Ford Explorer momentarily lost control, but then continued southbound on I-77.

The Explorer has a North Carolina license plate.  Troopers say the first three letters are VXL, but add they do not know the rest.

Troopers believe the Ford Explorer may be the same vehicle reported to be driving recklessly shortly before the accident occurred.

The SC Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information on this crash or the whereabouts of the green Ford Explorer to contact them at (803)385-3107.
