COLUMBIA (WACH)—Liberty Tap Room on Lincoln Street in the Vista is sponsoring a event on Saturday, in an effort to raise money for local fire departments and the First Responders Memorial project, being unveiled on September 11, 2011 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
According to Managing Partner Greg Harris, Lincoln Street, between Gervais and Senate will be shut down from noon until 4 pm. During that time, local fire departments will be on hand with various pieces of apparatus, the Military will also have equipment on display, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Humvee will also be open for an up close inspection.
In addition to the first responders presence, there will be a jazz band, bounce house, and a silent auction. Harris says that all the proceeds will go to the local fire services and the First Responders Memorial. “We have been very blessed, and we want to give back to the community,” says Harris.
There is no admission cost, and the event is family friendly.
