COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Small business owners in South Carolina are invited to a workshop to learn about financing their businesses and to meet lenders.

The state Commerce Department says morning sessions will involve lender panels and advice for small businesses. In the afternoon, business owners will be connected with lenders through a matchmaking event similar to speed dating.

Other sponsors of Wednesday's event include the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the state Bankers Association, state Chamber of Commerce, state Credit Union League and the Small Business Administration.

The workshop will be held 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Columbia Conference Center. There is a $15 registration fee.
