COLUMBIA (WACH) -- After announcing last week the University of South Carolina was banning all fraternity rush events, officials now say the school has reinstated bid day for some.

USC Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Jerry Brewer says rush will resume Friday for 11 fraternities.  The school is working with the other seven groups after being cited for alleged alcohol violations, which prompted the blanket ban.  At least one of the events that resulted in a citation sent a student to a hospital.

Earlier this week, Columbia attorney Todd Kincannon confirmed at least one fraternity retained his services to fille a potential lawsuit.

WACH FOX News obtained a copy of a letter sent by Kincannon to USC President Harris Pastides Tuesday.  The letter called on USC to fire Brewer along with Director of Student Services Anna Edwards on the grounds that the order to halt fraternity rush allegedly violated the students' constitutional rights. The letter also claimed their comments slandered students not accused of any wrongdoing.
