COLUMBIA (WACH) - Nancy Barton, executive director of Sistercare, has been honored with the 2011 Women of Acheivement Award by the South Carolina Commission on Women.
Barton as recognized Thursday morning at the Statehouse. South Carolina Commission on Women say Barton was chosen for her unconditional dedication, persistence and passion to Sistercare for over 20 years.
Sistercare is a program thats mission is to end violence so that women and children may live safe, productive and healthy lives.
"Its important work," said Barton, "but no way could i do this without all the teachings from the women themselves and all they've given to me and given to our work."
Governor Nikki Haley thanked Barton for her endless efforts and work with so many women and children across the state while serving as Sistercare's executive director.
