LAMAR (WPDE) -- Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee says it could be Friday before we learn the cause of death for a freshman football player who died several hours after collapsing at practice Saturday.

Hardee says the lab responsible for the autopsy results says they won't be ready until the end of the week.

Tyquan Brantley, 14, died at McLeod Health Saturday evening.

Hardee said he would not speculate about whether the heat Saturday contributed to Brantley's death.  The temperature at the time was approximately 91 - 92 degrees, with the heat index at about 100.

Brantley's teammates at Lamar High School have continued to practice and say they're dedicating this season to him.

Friends of Tyquan Brantley started a Facebook page in his memory.
