COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The 1993 Honda Accord may be old, but it sure is popular.
The South Carolina Insurance News Service said Tuesday the 18-year-old car was the most stolen vehicle in South Carolina last year. The previous year it was the 1996 Accord.
The industry group says the National Crime Insurance Bureau's Hot Wheels report found the 1998 Ford F150 pickup is the next most popular with thieves in the state. The 1999 Chevrolet full-size pickup and the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria were the next on the list.
The report says Myrtle Beach had the highest rate of car theft in the state and ranked 16th nationally.
The service says anti-theft technology has made it harder for thieves to steal cars made after the year 2000.
