KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- Active duty military personnel will be able to attend the 2012 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island for free even if the event is sold out.

Tournament officials announced Tuesday that tickets for active duty military will be available at the Ocean Course throughout the championship to be played Aug. 6-12 next year.

Active duty military can show a military ID and tickets do not need to be reserved. An additional ticket for a spouse or guest can be purchased at the time even if the tournament on the South Carolina coast is sold out.

Tickets for the tournament go on sale Aug. 14.

This year's PGA Championship tees off next week at Atlanta Athletic Club in Georgia.
