COLUMBIA (WACH) - It's not your typical summer camp.  A select group of teens are spending their summer in the Digital Connectors Camp.

"Everything is web based, so as we try to prepare them to go out and be competitive in this market, they definitely need to know the ins and outs of technology," said program coordinator Safiya Tate.

The students learn everything from managing their finances online to applying for a job; then they share that knowledge with people who live in communities underserved by technology.

"I felt like I learned how to be independent and kind of guide people with the things they need help with," said student Stephanie Jackson.

The rising 8th grader discovering that paying attention in school helped her move to the head of the class in the Digital Connectors program.

"As we were doing the programs, we needed math to get through some of the challenges we had."
