COLUMBIA (WACH, AP) -- Representatives from Benedict and Virginia Union met to talk about the 2011 Palmetto Capital City Classic Wednesday.
Officials discussed the game at Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. This year's game takes place on Sept. 3 at Benedict's Charlie W. Johnson Stadium. The Palmetto Capital City marks its 10th anniversary this season.
Events leading up to the game will include a Jazz in the City concert and golf tournament.
Executive Director of the classic Willie Jeffries says every year the event gets an economic boost from out of town fans and alumni.
"The restaurants, the filling stations, the hotels, so it does add to the city and I think that's why we can get tourism tax dollars to support the game," Jeffries explains.
Tickets to the classic go on sale this Friday.
