BETHUNE (WACH) -- Eight suspects have been arrested in Kershaw County after an assault took place which angered the suspects to take action into their own hands.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Department says the original victim, Jeremy Caldwell, was cut with a razor blade the entire length of his leg by 24-year-old Brandon Wilson on July 6 during a fight.
Investigators say Caldwell made it home to call 911, when his friends found out about the fight and went to the home of Brandon Wilson and Cederic Everett on Rochelle Road in Bethune.
The suspects kicked in the door and broke windows, and one female made threats using a gun, according to deputies.
“Situations like we see here, started off by an assault, would be better resolved by calling law enforcement rather than taking the law into one’s own hands," Sheriff Jim Matthews says. "If that had been done in this case, Brandon Wilson would have been the only person going to jail. Because these folks chose to handle the situation themselves, now all of them are in jail charged with very serious offenses.”
Eight suspects have been arrested as a result. They are as follows:
-Cederic Everett (30) Obstruction of Justice
-Jason Dobie (27) 1st degree burglary, malicious injury to property, assault by mob
-April Dobie (29) 1st degree burglary, malicious injury to property, assault by mob
-Devin Toney (21) 1st degree burglary, malicious injury to property, assault by mob
-Marlin Toney (20) 1st degree burglary, malicious injury to property, assault by mob
