COLUMBIA (WACH) --Claflin University launched their most ambitious strategic fundraising effort in the school's 142 year history at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center Thursday.
Claflin University President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale said the $96.4 million campaign would make a strong university even stronger and prepare its graduates to solve the world's most critical problems of the 21st century.
"This is an effort that will propel this institution to achieve our vision of becoming one of the premier undergraduate teaching and research universities in the world, and help strengthen our state's ambition to be on the front line of innovative research and technological advancement in this global society," Tisdale said.
To date, The Campaign for Claflin Universtiy has raised more than $55 million toward the campaign goal.
The campaign is focused on three specific areas where the funding will be utilized: building the endowment, strengthening academic programs and enhancing infrastructure.
