CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- There will be plenty of military jets in the sky over eastern South Carolina.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command -- known as NORAD -- is practicing flight interception and identification over the eastern part of the state Thursday.

NORAD command in Colorado says people living in the area between Eastover, Walterboro, Charleston and Myrtle Beach may hear or see NORAD fighters close behind military aircraft.

The drill is part of ongoing NORAD exercises to practice responses to airspace violations, hijackings and unknown aircraft.
