COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say eight people in the waiting room of a family medical clinic in Williamston were hurt after a 91-year-old man became disoriented and hit the gas instead of the brake and crashed into the building.
Anderson Emergency Medical Services spokesman Scott Stoller said the Chevrolet Cavalier ended up completely inside the waiting room of Williamston Family Medicine shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Williamston Police Chief Richard Inman says the driver of the car and his wife were hurt as well
Inman says it appears the car's driver had a medical problem and didn't realize where he was after the wreck.
Officials say doctors and nurses in the clinic tended to the injured until paramedics arrived four minutes later.
