Columbia, SC (WACH) - South Carolina associate head coach Chad Holbrook has withdrawn his name from consideration for the head coaching position at the University of Tennessee.
"I am flattered by the interest of the University of Tennessee," said Holbrook in a statement released by USC. "Tennessee is a great institution with a great athletic program but at this point in my career I belong here at South Carolina."
Holbrook is in his third season as associate head coach and recruting coordinator with the Gamecocks baseball program. This isn't the first time programs have tried to tap Holbrook for a head coaching job. He drew interest from Winthrop last year.
Holbrook came to the University of South Carolina in July 2008 after 15 seasons as a member of the University of North Carolina coaching staff.
The Gamecocks leave for their second straight trip to the College World Series on Thursday morning. They face Texas A&M at 7pm Sunday night in Omaha.
