COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Military veterans at Columbia's Dorn Veteran Administration Medical Center are celebrating Flag Day with a flag-raising ceremony.

VA spokeswoman Priscilla Creamer says Tuesday's event is being held at the medical center's Avenue of Flags Memorial Park. It's open to the public.

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the official flag of the nation. Flag retirement ceremonies are also popular to mark the day.
