COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Prosecutors in South Carolina, Texas and 14 other states say a federal lawsuit over a Boeing Co. manufacturing plant in South Carolina is against federal law and hurts states' abilities to keep jobs.
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said in a brief filed Thursday that the National Labor Relations Board's lawsuit against Chicago-based Boeing threatens job creation during critical economic times.
The NLRB claims Boeing located a new 787 passenger aircraft assembly line in South Carolina to retaliate against Washington state union workers who went on strike in 2008. The NLRB wants that work returned to Washington.
Boeing disputes the federal agency's claim. A hearing is scheduled for next week in Seattle.
Wilson and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott authored the brief.
