COLUMBIA (WACH, AP) -- Thursday's state Financial Summit was postponed due to the mechanical failure of the plane on which representatives from both ratings agencies, Moody’s and Fitch’s, were traveling to South Carolina. Both agencies have requested that the Summit be rescheduled.
Representatives from rating agencies were scheduled to come to South Carolina to meet with state government leaders as part of Gov. Nikki Haley's first financial summit.
The summit was designed to bring together rating agencies with the states financial, legislative and executive branch leaders.
State officials including Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom, Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt and Treasurer Curtis Loftis were expected to participate in panel discussions on revenue projections, pension management and the state's economic outlook.
Legislative leaders including Senate President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell, Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler and Senate Minority Leader John Land are also discussing budget reform and the State Unemployment Tax Act.
