COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says the man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Papa John's Pizza store manager has been arrested.

David Wesley Watson, Sr. is charged with murder, attempted robbery and four counts of armed robbery. Sheriff Lott says the department’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Watson without incident at a relative’s house in the 3500 block of Carver Street Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Lott says Watson fatally shot 34-year-old Steven Fowler of Irmo while Fowler was closing the Papa John’s Pizza restaurant at 10008 Two Notch Road at 12:30 am on June 3, 2011.  The sheriff says the shooting happened during a robbery attempt.

Watson is also accused of robbing the desk clerk at the Comfort Inn and Suites at 4:30 am on Thursday, June 2, 2011 along with several other hotels the day before.

Watson is behind bars at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
