COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia's mayor is owning up to a promise he made to city employees.

Mayor Steve Benjamin announced six recipients of his Salary Employee Incentive Program which gives bonuses to those who come up with successful ways to save the city money.

Benjamin gave up half of his $17,500 salary last August to be used for $500 to $1,000 bonuses that cut waste and increase efficiency.
