HORRY COUNTY (WACH, WPDE) -- Horry County Fire Rescue and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a vehicle in a pond.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says William Long, 59 of Myrtle Beach, died around 4:30 Sunday afternoon when his truck crashed into the pond off the intersection of Dick Scobee Road and Ronald McNair Boulevard. An autopsy will be performed Monday.

According to Lt. Myron Creel with Horry County Police, a pilot flying overhead saw a pickup truck get into an accident and go into a retention pond.

Car debris was everywhere at the scene and there was damage to a nearby gate. There's no word yet on how the accident happened.
