COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Officially it’s still spring, but Mother Nature thinks that it’s summer as hot and humid weather has settled into the Midlands.
High temperatures for most of this week will be in the 90s. The average high for this time of year is 84. High pressure in the Atlantic is to thank for the uncomfortable warm-up here. Dry air will also severely limit the chance for rain in the Midlands until we see a shift in the pattern towards the end of the week.
Sadly, with the current setup and high pressure acting as a road block, lots of energy will remain in place of the Midwest which means severe weather is likely almost everyday this week in areas like Joplin, MO which was devastated by a strong tornado on Sunday.
Also, allergy sufferers in the Midlands will have a rough week as the pollen levels will slowly climb throughout the week.
Bottom line; get ready for a hot and humid week that will be rough on the allergies.
