COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The University of South Carolina kicked off weekend graduation exercises with the School of Law commencement Friday morning.

Sen. Lindsey Graham was the keynote speaker at Friday's School of Law graduation on the Horseshoe.

Graham is a University of South Carolina alum and said it was an honor to serve as today's speaker and offer advice to future lawyers and lawmakers of our nation.

"The one thing I would advise you when you start your practice whatever that may be," said Graham, "is that what gets to be a big deal to you is a big deal to the person in front of you."

There were 209 students in USC's 2011 School of Law graduating class Friday.

More than 4,800 students from the Columbia campus are expected to receive their degrees at this weekends ceremonies.

Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor was also in attendance at the School of Law commencement exercises.  She is the keynote speaker for the 3 p.m. ceremony at the Colonial Life Arena.
