COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH, AP) -- A South Carolina group that honors World War II veterans is flying them to Washington for a tour of the nation's memorials.

Honor Flight volunteer Sandra Bryan says a group of about 100 veterans, 80 escorts and volunteers are traveling Wednesday on a one-day visit. The veterans do not pay for the trip.

The veterans see the memorial dedicated to those who served in World War II as well as the Korean, Vietnam and Iwo Jima memorials.

The tour includes a stop at Arlington Cemetery and the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier.

The Honor Flight group has flown more than 1,000 South Carolina veterans to see the memorials in their honor.

WACH Fox and MidlandsConnect.com will have much more on the flight throughout the day. Keep checking back for the latest.
