COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Shoppers helped those who help others Thursday morning.

Publix customers gave the Harvest Hope Food Bank a major boost.

A $17,000 check was presented to the food bank.  The money was collected from all of the Publix locations in Columbia as part of their Food for All holiday donation campaign.

Harvest Hope officials say this donation comes at a very critical time.

"When you're providing more than 2 million meals to those who do not know where their food is coming from and go home tonight with nothing, you are making a tremendous difference to those in this community," explains Denise Holland.

Harvest Hope officials say this donation will help them meet their goal to reach $2 million by June 30.
