ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- A judge has ruled that a 90-year-old man is incompetent to stand trial on charges that he shot and wounded a real estate agent in Rock Hill two years ago.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported that Circuit Judge John Hayes III ruled Tuesday that Richard Blow cannot assist in his defense or fully understand the charges against him.

Hayes has ordered that Blow be hospitalized through the Mental Health Department.

Blow is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill in the shooting Jerry O'Neill in 2009 in a dispute over $1,000 Blow had put down to buy a house for his daughter. He also is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and faced up to 25 years in prison if he was convicted.
