COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley still opposes a sales tax break for online retailer Amazon but says she'll let lawmakers decide whether to grant it.

Haley said Wednesday she doesn't want to use state tax policy to pick winners and losers, but she will let the tax break become law without her signature if it passes.

Amazon is building a Lexington County distribution facility that would bring 1,200 jobs.

Amazon wants legislators to give it an exemption to South Carolina law that requires sales tax be collected from any retailer that has a physical presence in the state. The company has hinted it will back out of its new warehouse without the break.

Opponents of the tax break say it would give Amazon what amounts to a state-backed price discount.
