Richland County official broke ground on a new Taco Bell at the corner of Decker Blvd. and Trenholm Rd. Extenstion Wednesday morning.
COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A Taco Bell franchisee made a $1.5 million investment in Richland County Wednesday.
Richland County officials broke ground on a new Taco Bell location at the corner of Decker Boulevard and Trenholm Road Extension Wednesday morning.
Construction of the new Taco Bell is the first new commercial construction in the Corridor in more than five years, and represents a $1.5 million investment by Fred Kotoske, the owner of Mexican Restaurant Ventures.
"It's just going to give a lot more visibility. There's a sense that this area is not vibrant anymore and when you have new construction, that says vibrance, especially in this economy," says Richland County Councilman Jim Manning.
To date Richland County Government has invested tens of thousands of dollars in improving the area, which includes neighborhood master planning and a nearly two million dollar purchase of the Decker Mall, which will eventually house some county government operations.
Kotoske says the new location should be in full operation in July.
