RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- Richland County officials say one person is dead after being shot on Farrow Road early Wednesday morning.

Twenty-eight-year-old Benjamin Moultrie, Jr. was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest just before 4 a.m. in the Waffle House parking lot according to deputies.

A deputy in the area heard gunshots being fired and was able to observe part of the incident.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says this is not a random shooting and is being treated as a homicide investigation.

"I am very confident we are going to solve this murder," Lott says.

Officials have identified suspects in the shooting and continue their investigation with good leads.

"You can't solve problems with a gun and we see that with a lot of people who think because they've got a gun, they can solve the problem.  All that does is make it worse," Lott adds.
