COLUMBIA (WACH, AP) -- Officials from South Carolina's FBI office shared information with industry leaders in South Carolina about how the Internet and technology are used to spy on the U.S.
The FBI hosted a conference on cyber vulnerability at the Columbia Conference Center.
Organizers said speakers include representatives from the FBI's Cyber & Counterintelligence Division as well as the National Security Agency's Information Assurance Directorate and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Organizers expected more than 200 people, including U.S. Defense Department contractors and members of academia and the intelligence community.
FBI Special Agent David Thomas said, "you have to have partnerships with your local and state law enforcement and international when you do cyber and more importantly you have to have partnerships with private industry because the Internet is all about industry it is not owned by anyone so those partnerships are key to us."
