NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The Boeing Co. is topping off a South Carolina manufacturing plant where it will make interior fixtures for its new 787 jetliners.

The company says ceremonies, in which the highest beam is traditionally topped off with a tree for good luck, are being held Friday at the plant site in North Charleston.

The plant will make overhead bins, partition walls and other interior parts for the jets. It's expected to be in operation next year.

Boeing is building a $750 million assembly plant near the Charleston International Airport, about 10 miles from the interior plant.

The assembly plant represents the largest single industrial investment in South Carolina history.
