CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The chairman and CEO of General Electric, Jeffrey Immelt, is visiting South Carolina.
He speaks Thursday at the College of Charleston. wrapping up a yearlong environmental lecture series at the college. Immelt has been instrumental in GE's environmental efforts.
He was also recently named the chairman of the new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness by President Obama.
The council is working to find ways to encourage investment in the private sector and American competitiveness.
