COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Get ready to drop, take cover, and hold on.  On April 28 at 11:15 a.m. South Carolina will be participating in a multi-state earthquake drill.

More than one million people will take part in The Great Central U.S. ShakeOut, which aims to prepare communities for an earthquake.

A small quake rattled homes in Chesterfield County on Monday.

Scientists estimate there is a 25-40 percent probability of a damaging earthquake occurring in the central U.S. within the next 50 years.

Interested people, schools, businesses, etc. are encouraged to click here to pledge their participation in the drill.
