CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Kansas City Chiefs place-kicker Ryan Succop, a former South Carolina Gamecock, is returning to South Carolina for an athletic banquet.
Succop attends a banquet at The Citadel in Charleston on Tuesday benefiting the Lowcountry Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Succop was dubbed Mr. Irrelevant when he was picked as the last man -- the 256th selection -- in the 2009 National Football League draft.
But Succop didn't let it get to him, making the Chiefs roster and then scoring 104 points for Kansas City in his rookie season. That year he tied the NFL record for field goal percentage by a rookie, making more than 86 percent of his field goals.
