MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- The secretary of state's office is looking into a food and wine festival in Myrtle Beach.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that secretary state's spokeswoman Renee Daggerhart confirmed the investigation but would not identify the focus of the examination of Coastal Uncorked Inc.

The secretary of state's office regulates corporations and charities.

The newspaper said Coastal Uncorked has received at least $380,000 in public funding in the past year.

The festival is in its second year. It donated $1,000 each to Horry Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina University. Festival spokesman Scott Brandon says the schools agreed to put most of the proceeds from the first event into promotion of future events.

This year's festival is set for the week of May 8.
