COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Two scholars are visiting the University of South Carolina to discuss two wars that affected the course of history.
The academics are speaking Thursday on the Civil War and World War II as part of the university's spring series on wars and their aftermaths.
John Bodnar of Indiana University recently published a book entitled "The Good War in American Memory." Purdue University's Caroline Janney is writing a book on the Civil War in American memory.
The free series runs through April 14 and is open to the public. Later talks focus on the post-World War II era, the aftermath of the French war in Algeria and war crimes tribunals and trials.
