COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Tea Party favorite and former Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle is in Columbia Friday promoting the release of The Genesis Code.
The Christian-centered film details the story of two college students and their struggle to navigate the conflict between the ideas of Evolution and Creationism.
Angle narrowly lost to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a hotly contested race last year that drew a large amount of national media attention. After that national exposure, Angle is now visiting South Carolina, New Hampshire, Iowa and Nevada to promote the film.
Each of these states hold important early primary dates in the Republican race for the 2012 Presidential nomination. That has prompted speculation she might be considering a run for the office.
Last month Angle dodged a question about her Presidential aspirations while attending a screening of The Genesis Code in Iowa, telling a reporter she was "investigating" all her options.
However; during an exclusive interview with WACH Fox News Friday afternoon she directly addressed the issue for the first time and said she is not a candidate.
"I'll just say very clearly to you; no, I'm not running for President," said Angle.
Angle also responded to criticism from S.C. Congressman Jim Clyburn, who last month said Angle's use of statements such as "Second Amendment remedies" contributed to the shooting of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson.
She rejected that claim and said it's unfortunate that some politicians attempted to twist a national tragedy into a political attack. Angle says finger pointing and political posturing following the shooting was an attempt to pin personal blame on an entire group instead of the gunman.
"Often times these things become more political than they should and it's truly disappointing," said Angle.
The Genesis Code shows locally at the AMC Dutch Square movie theater; Angle is scheduled to attend tonight's shows at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are still available at the box office.
