MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- Communities along South Carolina's Grand Strand are looking at standardizing rules for everything from dogs and tents on the beach to kiteboarding in the surf.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports a committee led by beach patrol workers will review local rules during the next month and develop a proposal to make them standard.
Currently rules are differ by community and that can be confusing for the estimated 14 million visitors who come to the area beaches each year.
Area mayors and Horry County Council Chairman Tom Rice appointed the committee Wednesday. Some officials hope uniform rules can be in place by summer.
