CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A quarter century after Ronald McNair died in the Challenger disaster, the small town of Lake City is again pausing to remember its most famous son.

A parade is scheduled for Friday, followed by a candlelight vigil at the memorial to McNair in his hometown. The vigil has been held every year since the Challenger exploded shortly after lift-off from Cape Canaveral.

Friday is the 25th anniversary of the Jan. 28, 1986, disaster in which the 35-year-old McNair and six others were killed.

On Saturday, the Ronald McNair Life History Center is dedicated in Lake City followed by a dinner celebrating the astronaut's life.
