COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The First Lady will be in the Midlands next Thursday to talk about childhood obesity and lack of exercise and how it affects the military.
Michelle Obama will address officials at Columbia's Fort Jackson about the problems facing the military when it comes to poor health in America's youth and find out what the Army is doing to help combat it. The briefing will be led by Deputy Commanding General for Initial Military Training Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling.
Mrs. Obama will also tour the base to learn about the Army's Go Green dining program.
The last time the First lady was in the state was three years ago leading up to the 2008 Presidential Primary. A campaign stop accompanied by Oprah Winfrey the month before drew over 30,000 people.
