SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A Woodruff man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he admitted defrauding two companies out of equipment valued at more than $265,000.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that 26-year-old Richard Lyons pleaded guilty to seven counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent on Tuesday.
Lyons must also serve five years probation and has been ordered to pay $237,000 in restitution.
Prosecutors say Lyons ordered equipment from ADT Home Security and Verizon Wireless between Aug. 13, 2009 and April 5. 2010. Prosecutors say Lyons tried to pay for some of the deliveries with fraudulent checks.
