NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- Investigators are trying to determine why a small plane overshot a runway and crashed into a recreational vehicle park in North Myrtle Beach, killing two people.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the pilot was trying to land the single-engine Cessna at a nearby airport Tuesday afternoon when he missed the runway. The plane crashed a half-mile away.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says the man flying the plane and a woman in a recreational vehicle were killed.
Darris Fowler with the coroner's office says the woman was 70-year-old Ade Sullivan of New Hampshire. The pilot's name has not been released while relatives are notified.
No one else was on the plane. Autopsies were planned Wednesday.
Two other people on the ground were burned.
