Columbia (WACH) -- The conservation community presented its annual "Common Agenda" to Senators at the State House Thursday.
It was an effort by the Conservation Voters of South Carolina to highlight the job and investment potential of South Carolina's natural resources.
Business leaders recommended ways to create new environmental jobs in different areas such as clean water, green energy and land protection.
Others outlined new proposals promoting recycling and reusing.
"When we reinvest in our farming, our forestry, when we keep our water clean and when we develop alternative and homegrown energy here, we are keeping jobs in South Carolina," said Ann Timberlake, Executive Director of Conservation Voters of South Carolina.
