COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's top prosecutor and one of the state's top cops are addressing a summit on how to avoid and treat drug abuse.
Attorney General Henry McMaster is scheduled to speak Wednesday to the South Carolina Drugs of Abuse Seminar in Columbia.
McMaster's office says U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles and Department of Public Safety Director Mark Keel are also scheduled to address the seminar.
McMaster says he hopes the seminar will help foster awareness about the effects drugs can have on people and also increase understanding about how drug use is connected with other crime. This year's seminar is sponsored by the South Carolina Attorney General's Office and hosted by the South Carolina Methamphetamine Action Group.
