State cooperative to offer health insurance to small businesses

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A nonprofit cooperative has been set up to help small businesses in South Carolina find affordable health insurance for their workers.

The South Carolina Health Cooperative was announced Wednesday. It will be serve to businesses with between two to 50 employees.

Businesses that join as members will run the cooperative that will work to negotiate lower insurance rates because of the larger pool of employees.
