COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene is cranking up his media machine, just days before the election.

Greene sent out what he said was the first news release of his campaign Friday, underscoring the theme the unemployed Army veteran used after his most recent court appearance -- that his Republican opponent, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, started the recession.

The e-mailed release had three points, each numbered, blaming "Demint" for supporting President George W. Bush's tax plan, allowing record deep cuts to education and mismanaging the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Greene says he is feeling OK about Tuesday's vote, but still has work to do four days before the election.

Green Party candidate Tom Clements is also on the ballot next week.
