COLUMBIA (WACH) -- One Midlands college student picked up a special honor Wednesday.
Columbia College Senior Diana Lynde was chosen as National Collegiate Honors Student of the Year.
Lynde was chosen for her academic talents, service and commitment to honors education.
She says she is thrilled to receive the recognition.
"I think this is one thing that makes this award so special to me is that this is a small school," Lynde says. "It's not well known and so I feel when faculty come up to me and say congratulations, they can be proud of this award too."
Lynde says after she graduates she would like to attend graduate school to study international peace keeping and conflict resolution.
But first she says she'd like to spend two years in the Peace Corps.
